"Vincent Belanger is a young cellist with great depth, passion, and a phenomenal technique!" DavidChesky Multi-Grammy nominated, composer and co-founder of Chesky Records and Hdtracks.

Vincent Bélanger studied at the Québec Conservatory and moved on to the Montpellier National Conservatory in France where he graduated with the highest honors. He furthered his studies two additional years with renowned French cellist, Yvan Chiffoleau, followed by a master class with Yo-Yo Ma.

Vincent particularly enjoys playing rare and unique works. Some were composed for him, as in the case of a Chinese work with which he toured Canada for the month-long Chinese New Year Celebration shows. In 2011, he was the featured cellist in an extensive tour of China and Vietnam. He is also credited with several original scores for theater and film, the latest being the critically acclaimed “Ce qu’il ne faut pas dire”, released in Montreal in May 2015.

His album , released in Spring 2011 on Fidelio, received unanimous critical and public praise both in North America and overseas, including China.

This is his first solo album, and is of rare and never-before-recorded music for solo cello, and reflects perfectly Vincent’s desire to reach out to a large public. He hopes to simultaneously touch everyone with the sheer beauty of the music while impressing them with the very high level of virtuosity it requires.
